The Opportunity:
British Transport Police have an exciting opportunity for an Estates Business Partner to join the Estates Department.
As an Estates Business Partner with BTP, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the Force's estates strategy. Acting as the key interface between the Estates Department and the wider organisation, you will ensure that estate plans, projects, and operational activities are aligned with organisational priorities and support the delivery of an effective policing service.
Working closely with senior leaders, Police Authority Committees, and external partners, you will provide strategic advice, influence decision-making at a Force level, and help oversee high-profile estates programmes and initiatives. You will be responsible for bringing together business planning, estate performance data, stakeholder engagement, operational requirements, and change activity to ensure the estate continues to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and influential professional who enjoys working across complex stakeholder groups, driving improvement, and delivering tangible value through effective estate management, utilisation, and strategic planning. The role sits within the Estates Senior Management Team and offers the chance to contribute to the future direction of one of the UK's most unique policing estates portfolios
What you'll be doing:
- Leading the strategic planning and delivery of BTP's estates priorities, ensuring estate strategies, projects and operational activities support organisational objectives and future policing requirements
- Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the Force and externally, acting as the key link between the Estates Department and the wider organisation, providing clear communication, strategic advice and influencing decision-making.
- Overseeing major estates change programmes, performance and financial planning, ensuring change projects are delivered effectively, budgets are managed efficiently and opportunities for innovation, value for money and continuous improvement are identified.
- Representing Estates at Force-level boards, committees and industry forums, championing estates priorities, managing complex issues and ensuring services, policies and governance arrangements support the delivery of an effective policing estate
What you'll bring to the team:
- A recognised project or programme management qualification (such as PRINCE2, MSP or APM) and degree-level education (or equivalent), with a strong track record of delivering strategic programmes and complex projects.
- Significant experience in estates, facilities, property or programme management within a large, complex organisation, including leading high-value projects and working with senior stakeholders to deliver organisational objectives.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to build relationships, challenge constructively and present complex information clearly to senior leaders, partners and external stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking, financial and problem-solving abilities, with experience of governance, business planning, performance management and delivering value for money within a regulated environment.
- A proactive and resilient approach, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and drive continuous improvement while supporting organisational change and transformation
