The Opportunity:

Are you looking for your next exciting career move? British Transport Police have an excellent opportunity for a B‑Division Event Planning Manager to join the Operations Department.

As a B‑Division Event Planning Manager with BTP, you will take overall responsibility for the planning and resourcing of events and operations across the division, ensuring operational resilience and representing BTP at a range of internal and multi‑agency planning forums.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading, coordinating, and overseeing event and operational planning across B Division, ensuring resources are deployed effectively and efficiently.
  • Acting with delegated authority on behalf of senior leaders, representing the division at internal and multi‑agency meetings.
  • Managing baseline risk assessments, developing policing plans for planned and spontaneous operations, and ensuring alignment with national guidance.
  • Providing leadership and full line management for a team of Event and Football Planning staff, including performance, welfare, supervision, and development.

What you'll bring to the team:

Essential Skills, Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

• Educated to A‑Level standard (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in operational planning, event planning, and resource management environments.
• Strong ability to delegate, manage competing priorities, and deliver high‑quality work under pressure.
• Excellent organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Confident in influencing, challenging, and negotiating with colleagues at all levels.
• High proficiency in IT systems including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to assess operational risks and work within financial and budgetary constraints.
• Knowledge of national policies and procedures relating to public order and public safety operations.

Additional Desirable Criteria: 

• Training in Duty Management Systems (DMS).
• Experience providing real‑time operational support to policing events.
• Experience using Origin or other operational planning and resourcing systems.
