The Opportunity:

British Transport Police are seeking an IT Project Manager to join the IT Portfolio Delivery Team.  As an IT Project Manager with BTP, you will lead all aspects of the delivery of technology solutions for Estates-related projects, including new site openings, relocations, and decommissioning activities. This is a critical role ensuring IT services and infrastructure are seamlessly integrated into physical changes across the organisation.

You will work closely with the IT Senior PM, Estates and Network colleagues and senior stakeholders to scope, plan, and deliver IT elements of the projects that enable operational success. These projects are high-profile, technically challenging, and essential to the organisation’s strategic objectives.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the successful delivery of IT elements for Estates projects, including new site openings, relocations, and decommissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Manage and identify IT project costs, resources, risks, issues, and interdependencies, ensuring seamless integration with Estates activities.
  • Define and communicate project scope, objectives, costs, deliverables, and timelines to senior stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment.  Provide comprehensive documentation including the production of project highlight reports.
  • Develop IT elements into robust business cases to gain approval for business requirements, translating them into actionable operational plans.
  • Collaborate with Estates, Networks and the wider change community to embed technology change effectively and ensure best practice in reporting and processes.
  • Manage and develop a team of change professionals, supporting performance, growth, and wellbeing.
  • Deliver medium IT projects that are complex and technical in nature.  Successful delivery of them is critical to the success of wider programmes and portfolios.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Experience as an IT Project manager, ideally within Estates or property-related projects, with a strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and technology deployment in physical environments.
  • Experience of planning and leading technology projects in a fast-paced environment using established project management methodologies
  • Experience of leading and managing 3rd party suppliers, stakeholder relationships and influencing personnel at all levels.
  • Experience of creating and assuring effective project documentation, aligning to governance processes/standards to ensure delivery, resource management and quality.
  • Experience of leading and motivating teams to deliver all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Professional qualifications or significant business experience in Project Management
  • Knowledge of or working towards project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2.

What we offer:

  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days after 5 years.
  • Family-friendly policies, including up to 26 weeks paid maternity and adoption leave.
  • Bespoke benefits platform and Blue Light Card access.
  • Salary sacrifice options for cycles, home technology, gym membership, and electric vehicles.
  • Access to the Transport Benevolent Fund for health, welfare, and financial support.
  • Development opportunities, including fully funded apprenticeships.
  • Excellent Pension scheme:  We offer the BTP GPP Police Staff Pension Scheme, administered by Royal London. This group personal pension plan is available to all police staff and is a defined contribution scheme. It provides the flexibility to vary your pension contributions from 4.4% to 12% of your salary.
