Salary: £39,871.93 per annum with yearly increments based on performance plus £4,613.61 London allowance  

Contract Type: 12 Months FTC (Maternity Cover) 

Location: Buckingham Palace Road, London  

Type of Working Arrangement: Blended approach of home and office-working is available 

Hours: This is full-time role (37 hours per week)

The Opportunity: 

Are you looking for your next exciting career move? British Transport Police have an opportunity for an Insight Analyst to join the Analytics & Insight Department. As an Insight Analyst with BTP, you will provide a high-quality analysis and research that supports BTP’s strategic objectives and drives operational improvements

This role is all about turning data into actionable insights. You’ll manage demand-related projects for the Analytics & Insight, using information from multiple systems to highlight trends, identify gaps, and improve processes. Working closely with stakeholders, you’ll help embed data-driven thinking across the Division and ensure our resources are used effectively

 What you'll be doing:  

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative analytical projects, producing high-quality insights and research to inform BTP’s operating model and service delivery.
  • Analyse complex datasets using advanced techniques and tools (e.g., Power BI, SAP Business Objects, GIS) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and performance indicators to support strategic and tactical decision-making across the division.
  • Conduct research projects using varied methodologies, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups, and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Horizon scan for external developments in policing and criminal justice, advising senior leaders on potential impacts and innovative approaches.  
  • Ensure compliance with legal frameworks and quality standards while driving continuous improvement in analytical processes and outputs.

 What you'll bring to the team: 

  • A degree in a relevant discipline, preferably with an analytical, social research or statistics component, or relevant work experience plus a further qualification in Analysis (e.g. NIAT).
  • Experience of producing complex reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders 
  • Proven research and analytical experience gained through work experience. 
  • Trained in using Big Data the purpose of research and analysis
  • Experience in data modelling and forecasting demand. 
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills with proven problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work with complex datasets and apply social research methodologies.
  • Competent in IT systems and data visualisation tools, including Power BI.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Interest in or working knowledge of programming languages (such as R or Python).
  • Advanced knowledge of both analytical and social science research methodology and statistics.

Additional Information: 

Post holders may require travel to other departments and various locations across the BTP network throughout their role.
