Job Introduction

Salary: Up to £60,183.64 :- £50,281.08 basic salary per annum with yearly increments based on performance plus a non-contractual/non pensionable Skills for the Information Age Supplement of up to £5,288.95 amount awarded either 0%.50% or 100% based on validation of self-assessment. London Allowance of £4,613.61 is payable to London based candidates only. 

Contract Type: Permanent. 

Location: To be based at one of BTP's main hubs London, Cardiff, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham or Glasgow   

Type of Working Arrangement: Blended approach of home and office-working is available. 

Hours: This is full-time role (37 hours per week).  

Are you looking for your next exciting career move? The Technology Department are looking for a Telecoms Specialist.  As a Telecoms Specialist you will be provide technical expertise regarding the implementation and management of the force's VoIP and legacy voice systems including contact centres and emergency call handling. Work closely with suppliers and partners to ensure solutions are robust secure and resilient.

 What you’ll be doing: 

  •  Management of change within the hybrid (cloud and on prem) voice environment, including documentation and technical change control.
  • Manage and maintain inbound non geographical and geographical numbers into BT Smart Number portal to ensure business continuity to minimise business disruption to the force.
  • Provide expert support and guidance during special operations and events. 
  • Work closely with suppliers and partners to ensure solutions are robust secure and resilient. 
  • Responsible for the installation, support and management of over 5000 users on several telephony platforms including Avaya VoIP, Content Guru Storm and Microsoft Teams UC solution covering 6 separate call centres. 
  • Also responsible for Avaya IP Office (fallback telephony for control rooms) and Sip, VoIP call handling to our ICCS (command and control platform in control rooms)

What you’ll bring to the team:   

  •  Accredited to ITIL Foundation Level or higher
  • Educated to degree level in a specific IT or engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in provision and management of a large VoIP solution and legacy telecoms solutions within an emergency service or similar safety critical environment.
  • Microsoft Teams Voice and Administration experience.
  • Extensive Knowledge of BT Smart numbers and administration.
  • Extensive experience of management and configuration of contact centres, integration of voice into control room dispatch solutions and IP network architecture.
  • Extensive experience of working with supplier to support and provide specialist technical support to a national organisation of users and stakeholders.
  • Good experience of incident resolution, requests, changes and problem solving are delivered to agreed specification.
