Salary: £31,736.51 per annum, plus 20% Shift allowance (pro-rata)
Contract Type: Full time, Temporary maternity cover for 7 months 
Location: Manchester - Peninsula 
Type of Working Arrangement: Blended approach of home and office-working is available
Hours: This is a full-time role (37 hours per week)

We have an excellent opportunity for a Real Time Intelligence Researcher to join the Real Time Intelligence department. As a Real Time Intelligence Researcher with BTP, you will provide a 24/7 real time intelligence capability by carrying out high quality and timely research from various internal and external sources in connection with the operational requirements of the real time intelligence function across the force.  

What you'll be doing: 

  • Research and develop intelligence/information within Force systems to support real time incidents.
  • Identify intelligence gaps and proactively develop any issue or ensure that the matter is recorded, and the appropriate person has been informed in order to direct Force resources.
  • Provide specialist research capability including collecting, collating and evaluating information from a wide variety of sources at a tactical or operational level.
  • Compile briefings for the briefing system in respect of real time incidents or as directed.
  • Prepare and deliver research summaries and findings, either written or verbal, to clearly and accurately inform decision making.
  • Provide preliminary development of intelligence in support of major/serious or critical incidents.

What you'll bring to the team:    

  • Candidates must either already hold PND or be able to complete the course (dates to be confirmed).
  • Experience of communicating effectively and of undertaking research.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen to others and communicate research in order to ensure understanding.
  • Ability to research and assimilate large volumes of data and prepare and produce summaries of research findings.
  • Excellent problem solving and creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and plan own work and manage time effectively to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Good team working skills demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required.
  • Able to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.
